Solving Equations with Variables on both sides

Linear equation is an algebraic equation with one or more than one variable, Here is one such example with one variable on both the sides.

Problem : Solve 0.6k + 44 = 0.48k + 8

Solution :

Step : 1
Subtract 44 on either side of the equation
0.6k + 44 – 44 = 0.48k + 8 – 44
0.6k = 0.48k – 36
Subtract 0.48k on either sides
0.12k = -36
Divide by 0.12 on either sides
k = -36/0.12 = -300
k = -300
